Marie Alonzo Snyder is the founder and artistic director of Tangerine Dance Collective (tangerinedance.com). She is a modern dancer, choreographer, scholar, and educator. Born in the Philippines, Marie was raised in Italy and eventually settled in New York City attending New York University's Tisch School of the Arts earning her BFA and MFA in Dance. Marie also earned her EdD from Teachers College, Columbia University. She is also a certified Classical Pilates, American DanceWheels Foundation and ZoukNY instructor. Lately, she has been exploring other dances to keep challenging herself physically and artistically: studying Belly Dance with
Stephanie Bolton, Pole Art/Fitness with Almitra Karastan and Hula with Kumu Keala Ching. Marie lives in Kona, Hawai‘i with her husband and two sons and is teaching Brazilian Zouk in Kona, Holualoa, Waimea, Captain Cook, and at UH Hilo.
